Continuing Education

Continuing Education

Failure to comply with continuing education requirements may result in disciplinary action against the licensee or registrant. The disciplinary action will be reported on the Department of Health license verification web site.

Change in Continuing Medical Education Rule:  The Board’s Rule regarding continuing medical education requires all licensees to complete forty (40) hours of continuing medical education courses during the two (2) calendar years (January 1 – December 31) that precede the licensure renewal year.  Now, pursuant to Rule 0880-2-.19(b) at least one (1) of the forty (40) required hours shall be a course designed specifically to address prescribing practices. 

This Rule became effective August 1, 2007.  That means, for licensees renewing their licenses in 2010, they will be required to comply with this Rule.  That means that by signing your renewal, you are affirming that you are in compliance with the Committee's Rule on CME.

X-Ray Operators

Approved Educational Course and Continuing Education Providers

X-Ray Operators in Physicians Offices

Each person certified by the Board must biennially attend and complete twenty (20) hours of radiological related continuing education in courses approved by the Board.
The due date for proof of attendance and completion of the required continuing education hours is each certificate holder’s biennial renewal due date.
Each person must retain proof of attendance and completion of all continuing education courses.  This documentation must be retained for a period of four (4) years from the end of the calendar year in which the course is completed.  This documentation must be produced for inspection and verification, if requested in writing by the Board during its verification process.
Courses to be offered for credit toward the required continuing education hours must, unless otherwise provided, receive prior approval from the Board.
